I uninstalled Cursor

A lot of AI tools are betting on being sticky (like other software products). Anthropic shutting out users from using Claude outside of Claude Code is an example of this. I understand that you can’t compete on just having the best model. It’s a losing race, you have the top labs neck and neck for SOTA. So having the best model is I don’t know if that’s the right move?

I didn’t think long before uninstalling Cursor when my subscription expired and the tab complete stopped working. I’m cheap that way, it also gave me an opportunity to explore what alternatives exist. Earlier, it took me some time to move from Copilot to Cursor because switching seemed inconvenient, and what I had “just worked”.

I moved to Trae today to write this post, and so far the autocomplete feels quite good from an experience standpoint. The quality of the model is something I’ll have to wait and experience.
